Statement on Bondi Terror Attack
IPSC Australia expresses its deepest condolences to the victims, families, and communities affected by the tragic events at Bondi Beach. We stand in solidarity with the Jewish community and all those impacted by this senseless act of violence across the broader Australian community.
Our organisation is built on the principles of safety, responsibility, and respect. Acts of violence have no place in our society, and we unequivocally condemn them.
As a sporting body, IPSC Australia remains committed to promoting the highest standards of safety and conduct among our members. We believe it is important that discussions arising from this tragedy remain focused on supporting the affected communities and addressing the causes of such hatred and violence, rather than attributing blame to law‑abiding participants in regulated sports. It is disappointing on the back of such tragedy to see firearm ownership become a scapegoat.
We encourage everyone to come together in compassion and unity during this difficult time and focus our thoughts and prayers on the families and communities grieving now.
Addressing the hatred that fuelled this senseless act of violence should be the next focus, not emotional politically expedient fixes and diversions by talking about gun law reform, when current firearm legislation can have real and meaningful effect with better administration and communication.
