Nicole Kidman's Reported New Dating Rules Take a Swipe at Keith Urban's 'Insecurities'
In 2026, Nicole Kidman is only moving forward, and that means possibly opening up to a new man in her life. Still, there are going to be some official dating rules.
After splitting with husband Keith Urban after 19 years of marriage, the 58-year-old actress is setting the bar high. Kidman is reportedly “done with famous guys and their insecurities,” an insider told Star Magazine. The A-list star needs someone who understands that her career demands a lot of her focus.
“Nicole often needs to be away for long chunks of time, sometimes on the other side of the world,” the source added. “If a guy’s got an issue with time apart, he won’t be right for her.”
Kidman is open to being set up on a date by friends, but the person must be vetted “by someone she knows and trusts.” Her Big Little Lies co-star, Reese Witherspoon, might be the first person in line to find the perfect man for her pal, and it might be someone from her boyfriend, Oliver Haarmann’s, finance circle. She seems to share the same sentiment as Kidman — no actors, no celebrities, no one from the entertainment industry.
Witherspoon was previously married to actor Ryan Phillippe from 1999 to 2008, and Hollywood agent Jim Toth from 2011 to 2023. A source told People in October 2024, “Reese loves that he’s a businessman and not into Hollywood.” She might be the blueprint for Kidman to follow after filing for divorce from Urban on September 30.
Kidman hoped that her marriage to the country singer would be forever after her 10-year marriage to Tom Cruise ended in 2001, but it didn’t work out that way. Like Witherspoon, it sounds like she wants to take a different path.
An early December Star Magazine report alleged that it was “Keith’s fragile ego, which was badly bruised last year when his new music was poorly received, played a huge part in the end of their marriage.” In order to avoid “a repeat of that situation,” Kidman is looking to Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston as role models for a future relationship. That means, no “household names.”
“Nicole’s looking at this whole situation as a new beginning, and she has a group of powerful women cheering her on to finally live her best life and find her perfect partner,” a second source shared.
The new year might be Kidman’s best era yet!
