Morning Briefing: Mets DFA Brandon Waddell
Good morning, Mets fans!
The Mets claimed catcher Drew Romo off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles while designating LHP Brandon Waddell for assignment.
Waddell posted a 3.45 ERA in 31 1/3 innings for the Mets this season. It was his first big-league action since 2021. He also threw 75 1/3 innings of 5.02 ERA ball in Triple-A Syracuse.
Romo is a 24-year-old catcher who has brief MLB experience with the Colorado Rockies. He had three plate appearances in the major leagues in 2025. He struck out in all three of them. Over 60 games in Triple-A, he hit .264/.329/.409.
