'Dilbert' Cartoonist Scott Adams Says He's Paralyzed Below the Waist Amid Cancer Battle
Dilbert cartoonist Scott Adams has not been in the best of health.
Earlier this year, the 68-year-old shared that he may not live past the summer amid his battle with prostate cancer. Now, Adams took to social media and shared that he's paralyzed from the waist down.
"I can't move any muscles," he said in a selfie video posted on YouTube. "I do have feeling, I just can't move any muscles. And the solution as of today is we're gonna ambulance me over to a facility to get radiated and they're gonna try to radiate that pesky tumor that's around my spine if all goes well, and it gets more tumor than it gets good stuff, I might get my, at least ability to get to get some strength back in my lower body."
Adams went on to say that the staff at Kaiser Permanente has been "bending over backwards" to help him get back home.
On Monday, while mostly opining about the tragic deaths of Rob and Michelle Reiner, Adams shared another update, saying that the radiation treatments didn't improve his paralysis below the waist.
Diagnosed With Prostate Cancer
Back in May, Adams shared on his podcast, Real Coffee With Scott Adams, that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He began by discussing former President Joe Biden’s prostate cancer, and he said it's not the good kind.

“I have the same cancer that Joe Biden has,” Adams said. “So, I also have prostate cancer, that has also spread to my bones. But I’ve had it longer than he’s had it ― well, longer than he’s admitted having it ― so my life expectancy is, maybe this summer. I expect to be checking out from this domain sometime this summer.”
Adas initially said he wouldn't live past the summer. Still, he later shared that testosterone blockers helped improve his condition, before things took a worse turn with being paralyzed below the waist.
Adams, of course, shot to fame with his nationally syndicated Dilbert cartoons. However, numerous publishers, including Ganett, the nation's largest publisher, announced in 2023 that it would immediately drop Dilbert after Adams' racist remarks about Black people.
