Phillies to sign reliever Brad Keller to multi-year deal
The Phillies are adding a big right-handed arm to the bullpen.
The team is reportedly “closing in” on a multi-year contract for former Cubs, Red Sox, White Sox and Royals right-handed pitcher Brad Keller, per Fansided’s Robert Murray. The deal, according to The Athletic’s Matt Gelb, is for two years and $22 million.
A former starter with Kansas City, Keller is cashing in after a fantastic 2025 season with the Chicago Cubs. He posted a 2.07 ERA in 68 appearances. He signed a minor league deal with an invite to spring training a year ago. Now, he’ll presumably slot into the back end of the Phillies bullpen.
Keller’s average fastball velocity jumped from 93.7 mph in 2024 to 97.1 mph in 2025.
The Phillies, a year removed from giving out one-years deals to Jordan Romano and Joe Ross, were clearly looking for more of a sure thing this year. Barring a trade, he’ll join a group of high leverage relievers that includes Jhoan Duran, Orion Kerkering, Matt Strahm, José Alvarado and Tanner Banks.
