Rob Reiner's son to be charged with 2 murder counts in the killings of his parents
Prosecutors released on Tuesday the charges they are filing against Nick Reiner, the son of slain director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele.
Reiner is being charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the killings of his parents, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said during a press conference. Authorities previously said Nick Reiner was "responsible" for the killings of Rob and Michele, who were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday.
The charges against Reiner carry a maximum penalty of life in prison without the possibility of parole. He could also face the death penalty, though officials said prosecutors have not yet decided on whether to pursue capital punishment.
The charges will be officially filed later this afternoon, Hochman said.
Nick Reiner is currently undergoing medical clearance and is expected to make his first court appearance shortly after the process is complete, Hochman said.
