Where to Stream Rob Reiner’s Most Beloved Films

Rob Reiner spent a long and prolific career making Hollywood magic from behind the camera, creating a slew of classic films that spanned decades and genres and left an indelible mark on pop culture.

The award-winning 78-year-old director, who died Sunday alongside his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, in what authorities are investigating as an “apparent homicide,” helmed various ‘80s and ‘90s films that are still beloved and widely rewatched years later, from romcom When Harry Met Sally… to coming-of-age drama Stand By Me to horror thriller Misery.

“Rob’s achievements in film and television gave us some of our most cherished stories on screen. But beneath all of the stories he produced was a deep belief in the goodness of people—and a lifelong commitment to putting that belief into action,” wrote former President Barack Obama on X. “Together, he and his wife lived lives defined by purpose. They will be remembered for the values they championed and the countless people they inspired.”

Fans wanting to revisit Reiner’s iconic works can watch his films across several streaming platforms. Here’s where you can find them.

This Is Spinal Tap (1984)

Reiner made his directorial debut with 1984’s This is Spinal Tap, a mockumentary following a fictional metal band as they try to climb back up the music charts. The film became a cult classic soon after its release, marking an auspicious beginning to Reiner’s time in the director’s chair.

Fans can watch This Is Spinal Tap on HBO Max, or purchase or rent the film on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Google Play.

A sequel to the film, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, was released in theaters this September.

Stand By Me (1986)

The 1986 film Stand By Me follows four boys who, after hearing that someone was accidentally killed near their rural Oregon home, go on a journey to find the dead body. The film is based on the Stephen King novel of the same name.

Fans can stream the film on Netflix and Fubo TV.

The Princess Bride (1987)

The widely beloved 1987 film The Princess Bride, a mix of comedy, romance, adventure, and fantasy based on the novel by William Goldman, follows Princess Buttercup and her beloved farmhand, Westley, as they fight everything from kidnappers to unusually sized rodents to reunite after being divided by Westley’s apparent demise.

The film has been preserved by the Library of Congress’ U.S. National Film Registry, and is available to stream for Disney+ and Hulu subscribers.

When Harry Met Sally… (1989)

When Harry Met Sally…, a 1989 classic often regarded as one of the best romantic comedies ever made, follows the friends-to-lovers story of the eponymous protagonists, played by Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan. Iconic lines from the quintessential fall romcom—such as “I’ll have what she’s having” and Harry’s climactic profession of love—remain well-known nearly forty years after its release.

The movie, which was added to the National Film Registry in 2022, is available to stream on Starz. Fans can also purchase it on Google Play and the Apple TV store.

Misery (1990)

Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, the 1990 thriller Misery, begins with famous novelist Paul Sheldon being rescued by his self-proclaimed “number one fan” Annie Wilkes—but quickly turns dark as Wilkes, finding out that the writer killed off one of her favorite characters in his latest book, decides to hold him hostage in her Colorado home.

Misery is available for purchase on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play, and Fandango.

A Few Good Men (1992)

The 1992 drama A Few Good Men follows a military lawyer and his co-counsel as they are tasked with defending two servicemen accused of killing a fellow Marine in Cuba. The Academy Award–nominated film, adapted from a 1989 Aaron Sorkin play, stars Tom Cruise, Kevin Bacon, and Demi Moore.

The movie is available for purchase on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Google Play.

The American President (1995)

In The American President, a 1995 drama, fictional widowed U.S. President Andrew Shepherd unexpectedly falls in love with environmental lobbyist Sydney Ellen Wade, sending his political career in turmoil.

The film is available to rent and buy on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Google Play.

Flipped (2010)

Reiner brought to life a new coming of age story for a younger generation with his 2010 romcom drama, Flipped, based on Wendelin Van Draanen’s novel of the same name. The film follows a sweet story of first love between a pair of young kids, Juli and Bryce.

Fans can rent or purchase the film on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Google Play.
