Thomas Frank will be worried by what one pundit spotted in Tottenham’s latest loss

Former Spurs winger Andy Reid noticed some major red flags with Tottenham during their 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

There was a bit of optimism surrounding Tottenham Hotspur heading into Sunday’s fixture at the City Ground.

Two impressive performances and wins against Brentford and Slavia Prague had given supporters hope that the tide was starting to turn and that the players had adapted to Thomas Frank’s system.

However, the Lilywhites took several steps back against Forest, never looking like breaking down the opposition while making some poor errors at the back.

Andy Reid says Tottenham players lacked desire against Nottingham Forest

Reid believes that a couple of aspects of Tottenham’s performance should raise major alarm bells for Frank.

The Irishman suggested that the body language of Spurs players at the City Ground left a lot to be desired and accused them of lacking desire.

Speaking after Tottenham’s 3-0 loss to Forest, Ried told Sky Sports: “It was a worrying performance from Spurs. There were just starting to be some signs of a recovery, with Thomas Frank looking like he was starting to impress himself on the club and this team.

“But they have turned in a performance like this where they haven’t got going and not shown any desire. The body language didn’t look good at all.

“Nottingham Forest have run over the top of them and played better than them in every area of the game. Man for man, they were fitter, and they have been better all over the pitch. Spurs got what they deserved from the game, which was nothing.”

Thomas Frank hints at a mentality issue for Spurs

Reid’s point about the players’ body language did not go unnoticed by the Tottenham head coach either.

After the game, Frank hinted that there may be a mentality issue with the Spurs squad, suggesting that they were never in the game after the home side went 2-0 up.

The 52-year-old declared that no matter what the system or the tactical instructions are, a team cannot create chances if they continue to make unforced errors in possession.
