Rob, 78, and his wife, Michele Reiner, 68, were found deceased inside their Los Angeles home on Sunday (December 14).

The couple’s daughter, Romy Reiner, reportedly discovered their bodies and contacted authorities.

Police later booked the couple’s 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, into custody for murder as a suspect in the case. He is currently being held on $4 million bail.

Nick has previously spoken openly about struggles with addiction and periods of homelessness in places like Texas, Maine, and New Jersey—experiences that later helped inspire the semi-autobiographical film Being Charlie, which he co-wrote with his father.

Earlier this month, on December 8, Grammy-winning singer Jubilant, 71, was found fatally stabbed inside his Santa Monica home.

His 31-year-old son, Micah Sykes, was arrested on suspicion of homicide and later appeared in court, where he was ordered held without bail, according to People.

Prosecutors stated that Micah has a history of schizophrenia and was not believed to be taking medication at the time of the incident. Jubilant’s wife, Cecilia Sykes, is believed to have witnessed the attack. Authorities described the incident as a domestic matter and said there was “no ongoing threat to the community.” Micah has also reportedly struggled with homelessness.

Both cases have sent shockwaves through their respective artistic communities, underscoring the deeply personal family tragedies behind the public lives of two beloved performers.
