On the rumors he’s UK rapper EsDeeKid:
“I got no comment on that one…all will be revealed in time on that one.”
On using his Disney paycheck for tickets:
“I don’t cherish anything more in my new life, than my Garden access…The summer I was 12 or 13 years old, I booked a Disney commercial, because I was a child actor, so I made a couple thousand dollars. And I bought the cheapest season tickets I could find, thinking LeBron was coming to the Knicks. I thought, okay, I’m going to flip these for double or three times. Then he didn’t come, but Amar’e [Stoudemire] came, so I was basically able to sell them at face value. I grew up on 43rd and 9th, so I’d run down to the Garden, I would scalp them to the scalpers, and they were $25 a ticket. But then I would go to as many games as possible.”
On sneaking to the tunnel and being spotted in the 2006 brawl between the Knicks and Nuggers:
“One of my first games, I was like 10 years old, Denver Nuggets versus New York Knicks. Mardy Collins. If you look at the footage, because the way the Garden used to be, now the tunnels are on the corners – it used to be in the middle. I snuck down with my buddy Brett, and we were on the tunnel exit, and it’s very pixelated on the footage, but you could see a little kid going nuts on the players. So that was me. But that was a crazy game to be at.”
On skipping the Met Gala this year, and skipping it to see the Knicks last year:
“I had to be locked in, man. That Knicks run last year, I think that was the most fun period of my life. Those four months, I’m not even kidding. Just the Garden being electric — I met Melo [Carmelo Anthony] briefly courtside. Seeing Stephon Marbury there, I love Stephon, he’s got a soft spot in my heart. And even though the team didn’t go to the heights they wanted, Stephon is New York the way Sebastian Telfair is New York. Shout out Sebastian Telfair…Seeing all the legends there — J.R., and Brunson, and K.A.T. — and I feel like Brunson is sort of the perfect anti-superstar for New York.”
On a potential collaboration with Bad Bunny:
“I would do it in a second, man…”
On interviewing Kendrick Lamar, and why he thought he might get murdered amid the Drake beef:
“But the thing with Kendrick, I did it in the studio and it was kind of stiff and I went home a little sad… And then he called and he was like, ‘Alright, let’s just meet – me and you in a car and let’s just roll. I was like, all right, let’s do it in the GNX. Then my white a– was like, wow, he’s in the middle of this beef. Can you imagine if this is how I go out? With Kendrick and some crazy Drake fan – ‘Actor Timothée Chalamet murdered.’”
On the Top Young Actors Vanity Fair cover:
“Oh yeah, yeah, f–k all these people. Let’s get into this…No, this is my new perspective on this. Western culture is not a given. K-POP Demon Hunters is the biggest thing on Netflix right now. So anytime anybody in Western culture is popping, it’s good. It lifts everyone up. So when I see other actors my age that are doing great, that’s honestly, that’s how I’ve taught myself to feel.”
On the Marty Supreme no-show:
Timothée: “Ice Man, George Gervin, Kemba Walker, Tracy McGrady. Joe Johnson was supposed to be in it. They flew him out and he never showed up. Isn’t that crazy? We were all like, ‘Joe Johnson is coming!’ And then, I guess he’s not.”
On the suggested use of AI in the movie:
“Working with someone like Kevin O’Leary is amazing too because in Hollywood, whatever, you try to put out a good vibe of yourself, obviously. He’s proud to be a public a–hole…He said we could have AI’ed all the extras in the movie, it would have saved millions of dollars. I was like, you’re snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. We’ve got a great movie, don’t say sh-t like that. Shout out Kevin. He sent me two watches for the Golden Globes last year. I didn’t wear them, I sent them back to him. He sent me some nice watches, but then they had crazy rare, it was like animal leather, [I was like] I can’t wear this bro. I can’t be wearing some endangered [leather].”
He also reflected on his legacy thus far, and talked about to comparisons to legendary actors.
