If you did not see the news, Rob and his wife Michele died on Sunday (December 14) and it looks like they were victims of a knife-related incident. An unverified report suggests Nick could be a suspect.
In a past interview, they sat down for a dinner in 2015 and spoke about Nick‘s rehab stays.
“When Nick would tell us that it wasn’t working for him, we wouldn’t listen. We were desperate and because the people had diplomas on their wall, we listened to them when we should have been listening to our son,” Rob said to the Los Angeles Times in 2015.
Michele shared at the time, “We were so influenced by these people. They would tell us he’s a liar, that he was trying to manipulate us. And we believed them.”
About their relationship, Rob said, “To be honest, by the time we got to the point of making the movie…our relationship had gotten so much closer.”
In the same article, Nick shared why he got off of drugs: “I got sick of it. I got sick of doing that sh-t. I come from a nice family. I’m not supposed to be out there on the streets and in homeless shelters doing all these f-ked-up things.”
About working together on the film Being Charlie, Rob shared in a resurfaced YouTube clip from 9 years ago, “we didn’t set out for it to be cathartic or for it to be therapeutic, but it turned out to be that…there were disagreements” and added “at times it was really rough.” Nick himself said, “Sometimes it would get overwhelming for me.”
