Amorim makes 1 change: Predicted Man Utd XI vs Bournemouth with Yoro and Mainoo decisions made
Manchester United entertain Bournemouth in tonight’s Premier League clash at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are languishing eighth in the table with 25 points, but they can move within goal difference of fourth-placed Chelsea with a victory over the Cherries.
Bournemouth are unbeaten in the last four meetings against United including wins in their last two trips to Old Trafford. The Red Devils must end the winless streak tonight.
Ahead of the game, there is uncertainty over the participation of Amad Diallo, Bryan Mbeumo and Noussair Mazraoui as the trio mandatorily need to report for Africa Cup of Nations duty today.
We are predicting them to make the matchday squad tonight before leaving the club.
Formation: 3-4-2-1
Predicted Line-up:
Senne Lammens has been an undisputed starter in goal since making his debut against Sunderland in October. The Belgian has not kept a clean sheet since his maiden appearance and will be aiming for a shutout tonight.
The defence could witness one change from the 4-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers. Mazraoui had an average outing against the Midlands outing, winning just two out of six duels contested. Leny Yoro could be reinstated in the right centre-back role.
The rest of the backline could stay unchanged. Ayden Heaven deserves to keep his place after a dominant display where he won 100 percent of his duels. He should continue in the middle of the back three with Luke Shaw on the left. Lisandro Martinez may see more minutes off the bench as he continues to step up his fitness after a long-term knee injury.
Diallo and Diogo Dalot appear the regular starts from the right and left wing-back roles respectively. Provided Amad is available for selection, no changes are expected. Patrick Dorgu has been inconsistent with his displays in recent months, but could be back in the XI this weekend.
Amorim has quite clearly said that Kobbie Mainoo is a backup option behind Bruno Fernandes for the number eight role. Hence, he is unlikely to make the starting XI tonight. Casemiro is widely expected to partner Fernandes in the heart of the midfield against the Cherries.
In the final third, no changes are on the cards. Byran Mbeumo should start as the right-sided number 10 if he is available for selection. Mason Mount was fantastic in the left number 10 position against Wolves, scoring a wonderful goal. He should keep his place with Matheus Cunha leading the line.
Benjamin Sesko has returned to team training after a bout of food poisoning, but the game may come too soon for him to start. The Slovenian could be eased back into action from the bench.
