Rob Reiner, Wife Found Dead: Cause of Death May Be 'Knife' Wounds

Two people were found dead at a house owned by famed Hollywood Director Rob Reiner on the afternoon of December 14. TMZ is now reporting that the bodies are those of Reiner and his photographer wife, Michele Singer Reiner.

What is the cause of death? Although that has not been officially announced, TMZ wrote: "The two suffered lacerations consistent with a knife."

According to NBC Los Angeles, the two were discovered dead on the afternoon of December 14 "inside a Brentwood home owned by director and actor Rob Reiner." That's according to "multiple law enforcement sources," NBC LA reported. According to The New York Post, "Detectives from LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division were also at the scene." The Post noted: "LAPD’s RHD is a unit responsible for handling high-profile investigations across the city."

Reiner directed some of the best-known classic movies of recent decades, including When Harry Met Sally, The Princess Bride,Spinal Tap, and A Few Good Men. He was also an actor, most notably playing the character "Meathead" in the iconic sitcom, All in the Family.

According to NBC LA, the deceased were a man and a woman, ages 78 and 68 years old. "Neighbors said Reiner and his wife live in the home, and property records indicate they own the home," the television station added. That report came before TMZ identified the bodies as belonging to Reiner and his wife.

The Los Angeles Fire Department went to the Reiner home around 3:30 p.m. PT on December 14 "for medical aid" and discovered the bodies, according to TMZ. They found "a man, approximately 78, and a woman, approximately 68," TMZ also reported.

ABC 7 reported that the couple was stabbed to death. People Magazine is alleging the couple's Nick Reiner may be accused of killing his parents. He had battled drug addiction and homelessness throughout the years. However, the magazine noted that the accusation came from "multiple sources who have spoken with family members. Police have not yet confirmed the account." And, although authorities say they are talking to a family member, they also said they haven't arrested anyone and are not considering anyone a suspect, as the investigation is in the early stages, according to CNN. Thus, People's account is still unconfirmed.

According to ABC News, authorities said Sunday night December 13 "that they have not identified a suspect and nobody is currently in custody."

How old is Rob Reiner? He was born on March 6, 1947, making him 78. According to TMZ, Los Angeles police also arrived at the scene and are investigating the two deaths. Michele Reiner had roles in various Hollywood productions, according to Rotten Tomatoes. They include Spinal Tap II.

"There is reportedly a heavy police presence at the home," Daily Variety reported.Daily Variety described Rob Reiner as "a major filmmaker who comes from a storied Hollywood family." He was also an activist, according to Variety.

Variety noted that Reiner's wife "was at one time a photographer who shot Donald Trump’s photo for the cover of 'The Art of the Deal.'"
