Rob Reiner's Family With Wife Michele Includes 4 Kids: Romy, Tracy, Jake & Nick
Famed director Rob Reiner, known for iconic movies like The Princess Bride and When Harry Met Sally, had a large blended family of four kids.
Reiner, 78, was married twice. His second wife, Michele Singer Reiner, was the wife of his three kids, Romy, Jake and Nick, according to Daily Variety. He also adopted another daughter named Tracy Reiner with his former wife, the late Penny Marshall, the site reported. Tragedy struck the Reiner home and family on December 14, when Rob Reiner and his wife were discovered dead - and with wounds "consistent with a knife" - in their Brentwood mansion, according to TMZ. The circumstances surrounding their deaths are just developing, but that's obviously increased interest in Reiner's family and kids.
Reiner's kids followed similar paths to their dad; three have worked in the film industry and one forged a career as a television reporter. Nick Reiner has been open about a battle with drug addiction. “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time,” his family said in a statement to Variety.

According to a 2016 article in People, Nick Reiner, Rob's son with Michele, lived on the streets previously while battling a drug addiction. "I was homeless in Maine. I was homeless in New Jersey. I was homeless in Texas,” Nick Reiner told People while sitting in his dad's office. “I spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun.”
Nick Reiner had "co-written a film loosely based on that experience," People reported at the time. Nick told People that he had recovered from the addiction and drew on his life experiences in his work. “I met crazy great people there, so out of my element. Now, I’ve been home for a really long time, and I’ve sort of gotten acclimated back to being in L.A. and being around my family. But there was a lot of dark years there," he told People.
People is now reporting that police believe Reiner's son with his wife Michele, Nick Reiner, may allegedly have killed his parents, but also clarified that no one is under arrest and that accusation came from "multiple sources who have spoken with family members." In a news conference, police indicated the investigation was still unfolding and said no one was detained or being interviewed "as a suspect," per CNN. The network added that police did say they were talking to a family member about the deaths, without naming that person.
According to ABC News, authorities said Sunday night December 13 "that they have not identified a suspect and nobody is currently in custody."

Jake Reiner, Rob & Michele's Son, Became a Television Reporter
Jake Reiner, the couple's other son, became a television reporter.
In 2016, The Houston Chronicle reported, "KPRC Channel 2 news reporter Jake Reiner didn't go into his family business. His father is actor and director Rob Reiner."
"I just had a different passion, the passion for news, and I found it at Syracuse University. I didn't get into journalism to avoid being compared to my father. Think about it, my dad followed in his dad's footsteps," he told the Chronicle.
