Tottenham player ratings vs Nottingham Forest – 3/10 winger had his worst game for the club

The whistle has blown for full-time at the City Ground, and it’s time for our Spurs player ratings vs Nottingham Forest.

Thomas Frank’s side were once again short of ideas in attack and mistakes in defence gifted Forest an easy 3-0 victory.

Guglielmo Vicario – A first-half mistake from the Tottenham shot-stopper was quickly followed by another, as the goalkeeper completely lost his bearings when dealing with a Callum Hudson-Odoi cross. A damaging afternoon. 2.

Pedro Porro – The Spanish full-back was nowhere to be seen as Hudson-Odoi twisted Rodrigo Bentancur inside out on Spurs’ right before crossing directly into the Tottenham net. Had Porro been in position, Spurs might have been able to stop the danger at source. 3.

Cristian Romero – His aggressive, front-foot defending did little to prevent Forest from finding the net, with Spurs largely the architects of their own downfall in both halves. 4.

Micky Van de Ven – Came to Tottenham’s rescue when Morgan Gibbs-White pounced on Xavi Simons’ loose pass, and also looked to drive his team forward with his carrying from deep. However, there was little he could do to prevent either goal. 4.

Djed Spence – Held his ground well against Omari Hutchinson in the first half and looked keen to get forward whenever Spurs attacked. However, being a right-footer on the left flank seriously hindered Tottenham’s attacking play, particularly with Randal Kolo Muani drifting inside. He was later replaced by Ben Davies. 4.

Rodrigo Bentancur – His first-half bite and willingness to work hard out of possession did little to protect the Tottenham back line. He was given an extra fifteen minutes after the restart before being replaced by Lucas Bergvall. 4.

Archie Gray – A poor outing for the teenager, whose first-half mistake proved costly when Sangare pressed high and forced an error as Spurs attempted to play out from the back. He did have a good chance to level the score before the break, but the Forest goalkeeper was equal to it. Replaced just after the hour mark by Joao Palhinha. 4.

Xavi Simons – A disappointing display from the Dutchman, who had looked lively in his previous two starts. On this occasion, he was careless in possession throughout, regularly misplacing passes and preventing Spurs from building any real pressure on Forest’s back line. 3.

Mohammed Kudus – Too often slowed attacks with excessive touches, allowing Forest to recover and crowd him out. His crossing was poor, his dribbling ineffective, and it summed up a flat attacking performance. his worst since joining the club. 3.

Richarlison – No effort on target, little link-up play and unable to win aerial duels. Tottenham’s attack looked toothless, and his performance reflected that. 3.

Randal Kolo Muani – The Frenchman was as ineffective as the rest of Spurs’ forward line. He had a few moments running at the Forest defence, but too often held on to the ball for too long, making it easy for the hosts to recover. 3.

Substitutes

Lucas Bergvall – Tottenham needed more invention in the final third and he was introduced for Bentancur. The Swede saw plenty of the ball in midfield, but created very little. 5.

Joao Palhinha – Replaced Archie Gray after a difficult afternoon. The Portuguese slotted straight into the holding role, but was on the pitch when Forest’s third goal arrived from distance. 5.

Ben Davies – Introduced as Spurs chased a goal, with Frank replacing Spence. The Welshman offered little going forward. 5.

Brennan Johnson – Finally came on against his former club in place of Kudus, but it was far too late, with the game already beyond Spurs at 3–0. N/A.

Mathys Tel – Introduced in the final ten minutes after Forest had made it 3–0, replacing Kolo Muani. N/A.
