Tottenham player makes public apology to supporters after 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest
Tottenham Hotspur full-back Pedro Porro has now sent a message to the Spurs away fans after his side fell to a humiliating 3-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest.
Tottenham Hotspur’s struggles this season were brought to the fore once more when they faced Nottingham Forest on Sunday in the Premier League.
Spurs have struggled in recent weeks, with victories hard to come by, although back-to-back wins in their previous two outings had restored a small dose of optimism around N17 and briefly suggested the tide might finally be turning.
However, against Forest, it was men against boys at the City Ground as individual errors, a lack of incision in possession and a worrying absence of control saw Tottenham slump to their sixth league defeat of the campaign.
Pedro Porro admits Tottenham were poor
Speaking in the immediate aftermath of the loss, Tottenham defender Pedro Porro did not shy away from the mood inside the camp, choosing instead to focus on the supporters and what he felt they had been put through on the road.
Porro admitted the performance of the Spurs players fell well short of the required standard, while also stressing the relentless nature of the Premier League and the fine margins Spurs continue to struggle with domestically, despite flashes of form elsewhere.
“The away fans do not deserve this. Today this was a bad game from us. Now we are focusing on the next game,” Porro told Sky Sports.
“Every game is difficult in the Premier League.
“We can play on Tuesday and win in the Champions League but in the Premier League it is different. Maybe more intensity, I do not know. But I feel especially sorry for the fans. The fans do not deserve this today.”
Spurs’ confidence tested ahead of Liverpool clash
Tottenham fans will be scratching their heads after watching their side capitulate to a three-nil defeat, particularly after many had begun to feel quietly positive about the club’s next three outings following recent results.
Many Spurs supporters had predicted their side would manage a few wins across this run, yet defeat at Forest has punctured that belief, with confidence inevitably low heading into two far sterner tests.
Up next for Thomas Frank’s men is a resurgent Liverpool side, who, like Forest, completed the double over Tottenham last season, and if Spurs perform in the same manner shown here, they will be staring down the barrel of another difficult afternoon rather than the response supporters are craving.
