Silver success for women’s team at 33rd SEA Games
December 14: Singapore Golf Association (SGA) national squad members, Chen Xingtong, Inez Ng and Valencia Chang matched Singapore’s best SEA Games result since 1991 by taking home the team silver medal at the 33rd SEA Games on Sunday.
The men’s team of Brayden Lee, Justin Kuk, Sean Lee and Troy Storm ended their campaign in fourth place.
In the individual standings, Inez Ng and Troy Storm emerged as the highest-placed Singaporeans in seventh and ninth place, respectively.
Thailand dominated the golf competition as they swept aside all the team and individual gold medals in both the men’s and women’s events.
The recent performances by SGA squad members was welcomed by national coach Murray Smit, who said: “We are pleased to see our women’s team continuing to make steady progress on both the world and regional stage.
“After recording their best-ever finish of tied 15th at the World Amateur Team Championships in October, they have gone on to achieve another milestone by matching Singapore’s best SEA Games result since 1991 with another silver medal.
“These performances bode well for the future of our sport, and we hope they will continue to inspire Singaporeans to take up and enjoy the sport of golf.”
