Smooth little lines trickling in
Hello Friends,
After overnight rain, this morning started off with partly cloudy and mild weather. There were little waves too. And lots of folks were in the water at Dee Why chasing them. Sets looked to be in the waist to maybe chest-high range, but they appeared to be somewhat few and far between. Still, the water’s up to 21 and it’s glassy, so why wouldn’t you go for a paddle?
The 0500 MHL data showed 1.4 metres of 9-second E by ESE swell. While Dee Why has waves, I reckon there could be better options around the place if you’re determined to maximise your experience.
This morning’s light and variable breezes will settle to the NW later and pick up into the 15-20 kt range before going around to the SE this evening.
Tide was high at 0506 and it’s currently dropping half a metre or so to the low at 1120.
Tomorrow looks iffy due to the change of wind regime, but maybe by Tuesday we’ll have a reasonable hope of something for the early session. If the swell models have it right, swell should perk up a little too.
Have a great Sunday!
Weather Situation
A trough will move across the state’s south and west today as a cold front passes to the south. Then, the system will sweep the coastal waters on Sunday through the first half of Monday, bringing a fresh to strong southerly wind change in its wake. Southerly winds will gradually ease from the south and turn easterly early next week as a new high enters the Bight and extends a ridge across the coastal waters.
