Minnie Driver Reveals Exactly How She Feels When She Sees Ex Matt Damon & His Wife
As many know, Minnie Driver and Matt Damon were an it-couple in the 1990s, especially since all eyes were on them when they were filming and promoting Good Will Hunting. Nearly 30 years later, many wonder: Is there still bad blood after their messy breakup?
In a recent interview with The Times of London, Driver talked about how she feels when she sees him and his longtime wife, Luciana Barroso.
“I run into Matt and his wife on the beach, and I’m always happy to see them,” she said. “I don’t see them much.”
What’s funny is that the last time she talked about him, she discussed how they met by chance at the beach again in 2020. She said on the Keep It podcast, “I did see Matt Damon on the beach and I had not had a conversation with him, seriously, since we made the film. That was last summer, and it was actually very nice to see him and his kids and his wife, [Luciana Barroso], and it all felt quite middle-aged actually, which was reassuring. That was nice to just have sort of a middle-aged conversation about the weather and stuff.”
For those who don’t know, the pair dated from 1997 to early 1998, having fallen for each other while filming Good Will Hunting. However, it all went to a screeching halt when Damon publicly broke up with Driver in Jan 1998 while on a talk show, stating that he was “single” (and it shocked her when she saw it live).
“It’s unfortunate that Matt went on [the show]. It seemed like a good forum for him to announce to the world that we were no longer together, which I found fantastically inappropriate,” Driver said to the LA Times the same year. “Of course, he was busy declaring his love for me on David Letterman a month previously.”
As previously stated, Damon has been married to Luciana Bozán Barroso and as for Driver, she is currently engaged to her longtime love Addison O’Dea.
