Benson Boone Reacts to Being Snubbed by Grammys 2026 After His Best New Artist Nomination Last Year
Benson Boone is reacting to being snubbed by the Grammys this year.
After receiving a Best New Artist nomination at the 2025 Grammys, the 23-year-old singer received zero noms for the 2026 awards show.
Benson was eligible for his album American Heart and his song “Mystical Magical,” which includes those infamous lyrics, “moonbeam ice cream.”

Benson shared a selfie of himself staring directly into the camera and he wrote on the photo on his Instagram Stories, “Can’t believe moonbeam ice cream didn’t get a Grammy nom. It’s literally pure lyrical genius.”
Clearly, Benson is poking fun at himself.
Benson previously opened up about the origin of the lyrics during an appearance on The Tonight Show earlier this year, revealing that his co-writer Jack LaFrantz came up with the words.
“I write pretty much everything with Jack,” he said. “Jack’s sitting there and he just goes, ‘You know, what if you just did this?’ It looked like he was going to say something really good and then he goes, “Moonbeam ice cream, taking off your blue jeans!”
“We went home and listened to it,” he added. “I was like, “Moonbeam ice cream? Hell yeah!”
