Veterans Day closures in Central Texas

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Veterans Day is almost here, which means certain facilities have closures to observe the holiday.

Most cities in Travis, Williamson and Hays counties observe Veterans Day as part of their respective holiday schedules. KXAN has provided a breakdown of closures by the city, which can be seen below.

City closures for Veterans Day

City of Austin

Administrative offices, as well as other municipal facilities are closed to observe Veterans Day. The city said that normal business hours will resume Wednesday.

  • Utility payments: Online payments can be made on the city utility website, or customers can call 1-833-375-4949. Additionally, the city said most in-person payments are accepted at H-E-B, CVS, Randalls and Walmart stores.
  • Austin Resource Recovery Curbside Collections: This department will not be affected by Veterans Day and "will follow regular schedules."
  • Austin Parks and Recreation: The city said city parks, golf courses, cemeteries and year-round pools are open. However, offices, recreation centers and senior centers are closed.

Other public resources provided by the city to access on Veterans Day include how to report a power outage on the Austin Energy map, how to report water or wastewater emergencies and where to access library resources.

City of Georgetown

The city of Georgetown said on its website that its offices and facilities are closed to observe Veterans Day. Additionally, the city said it moved its city council meeting to Nov. 12.

The following city offices are closed for Veterans Day, as provided by the city:

  • Airport Terminal, 500 Terminal Drive
  • Art Center, 816 S. Main St.
  • City Hall, 808 Martin Luther King Jr. St.
  • Council and Courts Building (including Municipal Court), 510 W. Ninth St.
  • Georgetown Municipal Complex, 300-1 Industrial Ave., including the askGTX and Customer Care call centers
  • Grace Heritage Center, 817 S. Main St.
  • Parks and Recreation Administration, 1101 N. College St.
  • Planning Department, 809 Martin Luther King Jr. St.
  • Public Library, 402 W. Eighth St.
  • Public Safety Operations and Training Center, Police Records, and Fire Support Services offices, 3500 D.B. Wood Road
  • Recreation Center, 1003 N. Austin Ave.
  • Tennis Center, 400 Serenada Drive
  • Visitors Center, 103 W. Seventh St.

According to the city, recycling and solid waste collection will remain on its regular hours for Tuesday.

Please place carts at the curb by 7 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day. For questions, call Texas Disposal Systems at 512-930-1715," the city said.

City of Pflugerville

The city of Pflugerville said on its website that facilities are closed for Veterans Day -- that includes the Pflugerville Public Library, Pflugerville Animal Welfare Services, Pflugerville Recreation Center, Recycle Center and city offices.

"Trash and recycling collection will continue as usual. For water-related issues during the closure call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 512-990-6700. In case of emergency call 911," the city said.

City of Cedar Park

The city of Cedar Park said on its website that city offices and facilities are closed on Veterans Day. This includes Parks & Recreation and the library. The city also said on social media that trash and recycling pickup will remain on schedule

The city said regular hours will resume Wednesday.

City of Leander

The city of Leander said on its website that city offices are closed for Veterans Day. As for sanitation collections, like trash and recycling, they will operate as normal during the holiday.

For utility bills, customers can submit payments to the Utilities drop box that is located on the south wall of Leander City Hall, 105 N Brushy Street. Additionally, customers can pay by phone at 512-528-2704, or pay online.

The city said it will resume normal business hours Wednesday.

City of Hutto

According to the city of Hutto's website, City Hall and the public library are close to observe Veterans Day.

City of Kyle

The city of Kyle said on social media that city offices are closed to observe Veterans Day. It said normal business hours will resume on Wednesday.

City of Buda

The city of Buda said on social media that city offices are closed to observe Veterans Day. That includes the Buda Public Library, utility billing windows, the Buda Welcome Center and the Buda Police Department's front lobby and administrative offices.

Additionally, the city said utility bill payments can still be made online or by calling 844-635-1381. Customers can also mail with cash, check or money order that is payable to the city of Buda.
