Jason Kelce Reveals the Unexpected Person Who Helped Daughter Wyatt Get Over a ‘Full Meltdown’ at Disney World

Dealing with a toddler meltdown is hard any time — but dealing with a meltdown, in public, at what’s supposed to be the most Magical Place on Earth? Yeah, that’s what nightmares are made out of! That’s exactly what happened to Jason Kelce, who recently took his four daughters to Disney World with wife Kylie Kelce. The retired NFL star opened up about the experience, and the unexpected person who swooped in and helped his eldest daughter Wyatt, 6, from a “full meltdown.”

In a Nov. 5 episode of his New Heights podcast with brother Travis Kelce, Jason talked about the “full fight” he and Wyatt had over a waffle. Yes, a waffle.

“Ruins about 30 minutes of our entire day because she wants a whole waffle,” Jason said, per PEOPLE. “And I’m trying to explain to her that there’s only four waffles, and there’s, like, f—— 15 people. So I just take a piece of the waffle, and she’s, like, getting furious. And I’m like, ‘Listen, I am not. I’m putting my foot down on this. Ain’t getting another f—— free waffle.”

To avoid a scene, Kylie tried to get him to “just give her the waffle.” “I’m like, ‘No. I’m not f—— I’m not raising some spoiled little f—— rotten child. She’s sharing,’” he continued, adding that his wife supported him. Still, this prompted Wyatt to go into a “full meltdown” over her breakfast, until one unexpected Disney character stepped in.

Maybe you’re expecting someone soft and cuddly like Winnie-the-Pooh or a magical Disney princess? Nope! The person who stepped up to help Wyatt was none other than Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

“You know who came in and saved the day? Jack Sparrow. Jack Sparrow came by, saved the f—— day,” Jason said. “Whoever was being Jack Sparrow was, like, the best version of Jack Sparrow. He nailed it, absolutely killed, and then from there Wyatt was in a better mood.”

After that, they went on to have a great day, which included Wyatt sharing her food. “Then she found out that we were getting beignets from Princess Tiana’s area,” Jason continued. “And it’s like, ‘But we’re gonna share the beignets right?’ And she was like, ‘Yes, I’ll share the beignets.’ So I’m like, ‘You know what? We’re back. We’re f—— back.’”

Hey, sometimes you just have to rely on your instinct when it comes to parenting. There’s no rule book! But standing your ground and calling in experts like pirates to help works just as well as any other method.

The official Disney Parks account shared a picture of the Kelces at the new Zootopia ride at Disney, with Kylie and her mother-in-law Donna Kelce smiling, each with a baby in their arms, and the two eldest girls standing in front. (In addition to Wyatt, Kylie and Jason share daughters Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 2, and Finnley, 5 months.)

“Not gonna lie, The Kelces experienced Zootopia: Better Zoogether! at Animal Kingdom ????????” they captioned the sweet post.

Kylie also taped an episode of her podcast Not Gonna Lie, with the Cinderella castle behind her, which is out now. In a preview of the episode, she shared a sweet story about Wyatt. “Last time, Wyatt took a moment with Ariel in her cove, and turned back around as we were all getting ready to leave and said, ‘you’re my favorite princess,’” Kylie recalled.

“And I promptly had to put my sunglasses back down so that I could cry in peace,” she continued. “I’m tearing up just thinking about it.” So sweet!

Later, she added that a trip to Disney is “for the parents.” “When you see your kid’s face light up at the magic that this place creates, it cannot be topped. And I stand by that. I guarantee I will cry at least three times while we’re here because of a child reaction. It’s that simple.”

Even if they do have huge meltdowns over waffles, the highlights of the trip make it all worth it!
