Mexican restaurant in downtown Albany closing doors
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Albany restaurant known for serving up Mexican street food is shutting its doors on October 25. Ama Cocina announced the closure of its downtown restaurant in a social media post on Wednesday.
Officials at Ama Cocina expressed gratitude to its customers and staff for their dedication, passion, and support of the restaurant. From laughs shared over tacos to family celebrations, the restaurant said it is appreciative of the countless memories made over the years.
"Over the years, we’ve been lucky enough to meet so many wonderful people, and those friendships and moments are what we will cherish most," Ama Cocina officials said. "This journey has been nothing short of amazing—and we wouldn’t change a single thing."
Ama Cocina was revived in August 2023 after it closed in 2022 due to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. In July 2025, the Ama Cocina kitchen was taken over by Hell's Kitchen season 22 contestant, Chef Jermaine Wright.
