Teen taken into custody after triple shooting in Times Square
TIMES SQUARE, Manhattan (PIX11) -- A 17-year-old was taken into custody after three people were shot in Times Square early Saturday morning, according to police.
Police blocked off the area and recovered a firearm near West 44th Street and Seventh Avenue just before 1:30 a.m., where the shooting happened, authorities say.
An 18-year-old girl was grazed in the neck, a 19-year-old man was shot in the foot and a 65-year-old man was hit in the left leg during the shooting, officials report. They were all taken to a local hospital and are expected to survive.
"It's a very overwhelming experience for the fact that...there's so many victims," said Nai, a witness at the scene. "Really take your life into consideration...also be aware of your surroundings."
The shooting may have started as a verbal dispute between the 17-year-old who was taken into custody and the 19-year-old who was shot, police tell PIX11 News.
Investigators say they're not looking for any other shooters at the moment but are still working to find the details of the incident.
