BULAWAYO police are hunting three armed men after a double motor vehicle robbery spree in Emganwini and Nketa.
On 8 August, a 33-year-old man from Sizinda was sitting in his parked blue Honda Fit near a local school in Emganwini when three unknown men approached.
One pulled out a pistol and ordered him out of the car. The three suspects jumped in and drove off.
Thanks to quick work by police and the public, the stolen vehicle was found later that night at Emasotsheni along Nketa Drive, with its ignition keys and number plates missing.
In a separate case, a 31-year-old man from Nketa 9 was attacked outside his home around 7.24 PM.
While parking his silver Nissan March K12, a masked man held the gate open and pulled a pistol on him. The victim was searched and robbed of US$200, a cellphone, and a satchel containing US$800 and R6 000.
The robber sped off in the victim’s car, which still had a second cellphone, a ZB Point of Sale device, and two Mi-Fi routers inside.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele praised the public for their help recovering the first vehicle.
“We encourage all car owners to install tracking systems. Together we can fight theft of motor vehicles,” she said.
On the second case, Insp Msebele appealed to anyone with information to come forward.
