2025 Sardis 7’s – Tournament Preview
The 2025 Sardis 7s is nearly upon us – the 7s tournament is taking place over three consecutive days at Sardis Road and it all gets underway this Friday 25th July with the Youth Leg of the tournament – all the dates and start times are listed later on in this article.
Last year’s three-day competition was a huge success once again. As is now customary the Youth Leg got the weekend underway on the Friday with Ynysybwl winning the Bowl, Treorchy winning the Plate and Pontypridd were crowned Cup Champions.
Then on Saturday 27th July 2024 a full day of white-hot rugby action got underway early afternoon with lots of closely fought matches being the order of the day. The afternoon was brought to its climax with the Cherubs winning the Plate whilst Cynon Crusaders lifted the main Cup competition and were crowned champions of the Senior Leg of the 2024 competition.
On the Sunday the U16s leg of the tournament brought the curtain down on a brilliant weekend of rugby action – Pontypridd won the Bowl, Bridgend Athletic triumphed in the Plate competition and Llanharan lifted the Cup.
Back to this year’s tournament, we are looking forward to welcoming the following sides to Sardis Road over the three days:
The Youth Leg – Treorchy RFC, Llantwit Fardre RFC, Porth RFC, Newport HSOB RFC, Tondu RFC, Ystrad Rhondda RFC, St Albans Black, Pontypridd RFC, Carmarthen Warriors, Pentyrch RFC, Taffs Well RFC, St Albans Amber.
The Senior Leg – Bargoed Warriors, High Motive Commandos 7s, Durbins Devils 7s, Mountain Ash RFC, Llantwit Fardre RFC, St Albans RFC, Sniper 7s, Pencoed RFC, Cynon Crusaders, St Peters RFC, Rhydyfelin RFC.
The U16s Leg – St Albans RFC, Pontyclun Badgers RFC, Pontypridd (White) RFC, Glynneath RFC, Llandovery RFC, Old Illtydians RFC, Whitehead RFC, Llantrisant RFC, Llanpumsaint Lion, Maesteg Celtic RFC, Pontyclun RFC, Pontypridd (Black) RFC.
The U15s Leg – Llangefni RFC, St Albans RFC, Pontyclun Badgers, Rumney RFC, Pontypridd (White) RFC, Rumney RFC, Chrissy 7s, Pontypridd (Black) RFC, Beddau RFC, Merthyr RFC, Pontyclun RFC.
The 2025 schedule is as follows –
- Friday 25th July – Youth Rugby 7s Tournament, first match 6:00pm.
- Saturday 26th July – Men’s Senior 7s Tournament, first match 1:00pm.
- Sunday 27th July – U15s 7s Tournament, first match 10:00am and U16s 7s Tournament, first match 1:00pm.
The Clubhouse will be open from 5:00pm on Friday. On Saturday the Clubhouse and Graham Gittins Lounge will both be open at 11:30am and then on Sunday the Clubhouse will be open from 9:30am.
The price of entry is £5.00 per person per day, or a special offer of £10 per person for all three days. Payment for entry can be made on each particular day via cash or card.
So there you have it, what a brilliant weekend of rugby it promises to be to kick off the 2025/26 pre-season!
