Pakistan’s Interior Minister Visits Kabul
Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, visited Kabul to discuss security, counterterrorism, and regional cooperation with officials, including Sirajuddin Haqqani.
Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan’s Interior Minister, arrived in Kabul today (Sunday, July 20) leading an official delegation. The visit marks a continuation of recent diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
This trip follows the recent visit of Pakistan’s Foreign Minister to Kabul and is primarily aimed at holding talks with Taliban officials, especially Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Acting Interior Minister.
Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, is accompanying Naqvi on this one-day visit, highlighting the importance of the discussions expected to take place.
The central focus of the visit is to discuss security concerns, counterterrorism efforts, and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Islamabad and Kabul in these critical areas.
Tensions have recently escalated between Pakistan and the Talibane due to Islamabad’s accusations that Afghanistan soil is being used for terrorist attacks against Pakistan.
Naqvi has previously claimed that terrorist groups infiltrate Pakistan from Afghanistan, a statement strongly denied by Taliban officials, who maintain they do not allow such activities.
Key topics like border security, the presence of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and the status of Afghan refugees in Pakistan are expected to dominate the dialogue during this strategic visit.
