NYC organization 'Pull-Up for Peace' wants to keep kids safe
NEW YORK (PIX11) – It’s all about keeping kids busy, having fun, and staying safe this summer.
Several Queens organizations are helping create safe spaces and programs for kids.
PIX11’s Monica Morales has an update on three programs from Queens to the Bronx.
It’s called “Pull-Ups for Peace.”
Prince Mapp hopes that each pull-up and push-up serves a purpose.
PIX11’s Monica Morales first met Prince Mapp in August 2022. He started a car wash for formerly incarcerated men, helping them rebuild their lives with jobs and become mentors.
Now, Mapp launched a new initiative called “Pull-Up for Peace,” a city-wide challenge where Mapp spontaneously goes to parks and street corners from South Jamaica to Harlem.
Mapp recruits young people mainly from NYCHA neighborhoods to do pull-ups or push-ups and then shares their videos on Instagram.
Erica Ford, founder and CEO of Life Camp, believes in the program and participated herself.
Aaron Jackson, a retired NYPD officer, is now the CEO of Titanverses.com, an online music competition aimed at helping heal our youth.
Finally, a Bronx all-girls softball team needs help renovating their field. They require more support to turn their field of dreams into reality.
