Pakistan reiterates support for global counterterrorism efforts
Pakistan reiterated its support for global counterterrorism efforts, emphasizing its zero-tolerance policy and calling for unified international action to combat all forms of terrorism.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan has once again emphasized its firm stance against terrorism in all its forms and called for coordinated international action to combat this global threat.
In a statement released on Saturday, July 19, the ministry reaffirmed its policy of “zero tolerance for terrorism in any form” and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to global counterterrorism efforts.
The statement claimed that Pakistan remains on the front lines in the fight against terrorism. It highlighted the recent arrest of Mohammad Sharif, allegedly involved in the bombing at Kabul’s Abi Gate, as an example of Pakistan’s role in international counterterrorism cooperation.
According to the ministry, Pakistan has effectively dismantled terrorist networks, apprehended and prosecuted their leaders, and worked to deradicalize their members. The country also referenced its ongoing investigations into the Pahalgam attack, which killed 26 tourists, although it acknowledged that the inquiry remains unresolved.
Despite these claims, Pakistan continues to face accusations from neighboring countries and international observers of harboring or supporting militant groups, including the Taliban. These allegations have long cast a shadow over Islamabad’s counterterrorism narrative.
In light of global security challenges, Pakistan’s foreign ministry urged the international community to adopt a unified and comprehensive approach to eliminating terrorism. It stressed the importance of cooperation, intelligence-sharing, and addressing the root causes of extremism.
As regional tensions remain high and militant threats persist, Pakistan’s latest statement appears aimed at reinforcing its global image as a counterterrorism partner. However, observers note that meaningful credibility will depend on transparency, accountability, and measurable actions on the ground.
