I Tried Revolution Beauty’s 'Gen Jelly' Collection & It Has Shockingly Good Products for Less Than $10

I recently had the opportunity to try a few products from Revolution Beauty’s Gen Jelly Collection, which just launched exclusively at Walmart. Now I wear them every day, from long walks in the sweltering heat to dinner parties where I don’t want to look overly “done.” I tried the Jelly Primer, two shades of the Jelly Blush Stick (Cherry and Strawberry), the Jelly Mist Setting Spray, and the Jelly Lip Oil.

To put it simply: I was shocked at how good everything was. For the price, I wasn’t anticipating that it would quickly become a new staple, pushing my ILIA cream blush out of a three-year long spotlight and off the grand pedestal of my everyday makeup routine.

I started with the Jelly Juice Hydrating Primer. It went on like a gel-serum hybrid, cool and smooth. The first time I used it, I applied it on bare skin with my fingers, then let it sit and gently fanned my face. It left a soft, barely-there tackiness that helped my makeup grip without feeling like it was glued on. My skin felt so hydrated undeath, quenched even after a full day. Normally, I get dry patches around my chin and nose when I wear makeup there, but the primer layered beautifully without pilling. It gave my skin a dewy, real-skin finish before I even touched the blush. It reminded me a lot of the Milk Hydro Grip Primer – only this one didn’t feel quite as sticky, and it cost a fraction of the price.

While I loved all the products I tried, the Jelly Blush Stick Lip and Cheek Stain was the real star of the show. I’m always skeptical of cream or gel blushes because of how messy they get, and I’ve had too many that either disappear in 10 minutes or leave a weird oily film on top of my makeup. Although you have to be quick to blend the blush once it’s applied, it goes on smoothly and evenly. The texture is bouncy, almost like a solid jelly that melts into your fingers.

I tested both Cherry and Strawberry, and while they’re both beautiful, Cherry is the one I immediately added to my daily routine. It produces the kind of deep flush that looks like you just stepped out of the gym or ran into someone you’re in love with. It’s vivid in the stick, but once tapped into the skin, it sheers out into a subtle, perfect natural red that still has a juicy sheen.

I also tried it on my lips, just to see, and it worked as a soft stain that didn’t dry me out. It lasted all day, even through New York’s summer heat and humidity, and it didn’t fade into a patchy mess like other blushes sometimes do. Strawberry was softer, a traditional pastel “blush” color with the same dewy finish, but Cherry gave me that slightly sunkissed look that I always try to fake but never get quite right. This one nailed it.

Setting sprays can be tricky. Some make your face feel tight and dry. Others melt your makeup off entirely. Jelly Mist Gel to Water Fixing Spray struck a good balance. The mist itself is super fine — it starts out as a gel and sprays into a cooling water mist that instantly soaks in. I used it right after finishing my makeup and again mid-day as a refresher, and both times it gave me that slight glow without any greasiness or dryness. It helped keep my makeup intact while avoiding those big drops that ruin makeup, ultimately achieving a hydrated finish that stayed put.

I wore it through a long day of meetings and walking outside, and nothing moved. I didn’t have to blot or touch up, and the glow held up without becoming shiny. This spray is subtle, but that’s kind of the point. It’s not doing the most. It’s doing exactly what you want it to do — and doing it well.

Revolution Jelly Lip Oil Stick Watermelon Crush Red

The Watermelon Crush Jelly Lip Oil was the product I expected to like the least but ended up wearing the most casually. The texture is thicker than I thought it would be; it’s almost balm-like, but still glossy. The watermelon scent is sweet but not overwhelming, and it gives your lips a little red tint with a juicy plump that looks super fresh. I wore it alone, over lip liner, and every time it gave me the same glowy finish.

What I appreciated most is that it didn’t leave that weird gummy edge after wearing off. It faded evenly, left my lips soft, and even worked layered over liner for a glossier finish. It’s not sticky or plasticky, just moisturizing and smooth. I’ve thrown it in my bag for the week and kept reaching for it, which says a lot.

There’s something really satisfying about finding a drugstore product that doesn’t just feel like a cheaper version of something better. These didn’t feel like dupes in the slightest. The textures are creative and original, while the finishes are flattering. And every single product worked seamlessly with the others. They all have that bouncy, hydrating, barely-there appearance that makes your skin look like skin—but better. It makes your skin look like you took a bath in a tub of Aquaphor while downing shots of collagen.

If I had to pick one to buy again first, it would be the Cherry Jelly Blush. It’s honestly one of the best blushes I’ve tried this year, at any price point. As a college student with dry skin, I can genuinely see myself re-buying the primer and setting spray too. It’s rare that I try an entire line and don’t find a single dud, showing me that Revolution Beauty is seriously dedicated to making original, top quality products.

For anyone who’s looking to build a low-effort, dewy makeup routine, I’d start here.  You don’t need to overthink it. Just tap it in, mist it on, or swipe it across your lips, and it does the work for you.
