Wanted man found unresponsive in Richmondville, later pronounced dead
RICHMONDVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A wanted man was found unresponsive Thursday in Richmondville. According to New York State Police, Kenneth Meyers, 31, of Cobleskill, had a warrant out for his arrest when he was found.
Troopers said an arrest warrant had been issued after Meyers failed to appear in court for multiple felony drug possession charges on June 9. Meyers was reportedly wearing an ankle monitor, which had been cut off around the time of his scheduled court appearance.
Around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, troopers responded to 113 Badeau lane in Richmondville where Meyers was located. Troopers said around 4 p.m. a woman exited the home, but Meyers would not speak with troopers or leave the house himself.
After multiple failed attempts, state police entered the home around 7:05 p.m. and found Meyers unresponsive inside. Emergency crews transported Meyers to the Cobleskill Hospital before being airlifted to Albany Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
On Friday, around 6:57 a.m., Meyers was declared dead at the hospital. Troopers said the New York State Attorney General's Office was first notified when he was airlifted and again when he was declared dead.
The cause of death is pending an investigation and an autopsy.
