Cooling trend continues across Portland
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Cooler summertime temperatures are working their way back into the Pacific Northwest on Friday and will continue to fall this weekend.
A sunny start to the day in Portland on Friday will help warm temperatures into the low to mid 80s. A few high, thin clouds will move overhead during the afternoon and evening hours on Friday. Temperatures will continue to cool as clouds increase this weekend.
The coolest point of Portland's latest cooling trend will fall on Sunday with afternoon highs in the upper 70s. Morning clouds will help slow summer temperatures from building both Saturday and Sunday.
Despite Oregon and Washington's latest cooling trend, the lack of rainfall is keeping the fire threat elevated. Central and eastern locations of Oregon will be at an elevated risk for wildfire activity through the afternoon and evening hours on Friday due to gusty winds, heat, and very dry conditions.
A layer of clouds on Monday could bring a stray raindrop or two to parts of the Portland/Vancouver area. That moisture potential is short-lived as near 90 degree temperatures return by the middle of the week.
