Tottenham’s £55m Richarlison twist leads to comment from Brazilian football expert
South American football expert Tim Vickery has now talked up the chances of Richarlison returning to Brazil this summer, even though the Tottenham striker turned down the chance to move back to his home country in previous transfer windows.
At the start of the transfer window, it was reported that Richarlison wants to leave Tottenham in search of regular game time.
However, the striker’s stance appears to have changed, with some sources now claiming that Richarlison wants to be part of the new Spurs project under Thomas Frank.
It is unclear if the Brazilian may get a chance to remain at N17, particularly amidst reports that Thomas Frank is keen on bringing Yoane Wissa to Spurs.

It has emerged over recent days that Palmerias are now in negotiations with Tottenham over Richarlison, with the Brazilian club said to be working hard to convince the forward to join them. However, Spurs are rumoured to have put a £55m price tag on Richarlison’s head.
Tim Vickery believes that a move to Allianz Parque may be a realistic prospect for the Spurs striker as Palmeiras are not short of cash, thanks to the huge prize money they won in the recently concluded Club World Cup, where they reached the quarterfinal.
When asked about Palmerias’ move for Richarlison, Vickery told talkSPORT: “The teams that have come back from the Club World Cup, they’ve got a lot of money. So suddenly, a move like this is a possibility.
“Now, you scan round Europe and you think, well, they’ve got all this money, but who can they persuade to come back? It’s very unlikely they can do that with someone in their prime doing well in Europe, but that’s not really the case with Richarlison, is it? He’s been one injury after another.
“You look around and think, they’ve got all this money, who can they persuade to turn their backs on Europe and come back. You can always get veterans like Jorginho, for example, who’s just slotted right in. You can bring him back but those in their prime, if they’re doing well, tough. Richarlison, maybe they’ve just got a shot.”
Palmerias have competition for Richarlison
Palmerias may be keen on spending their newfound wealth on the Tottenham Hotspur man, but they have competition to contend with for the striker.
It has emerged over recent days that Fluminense, Flamengo, and Vasco da Gama have also expressed an interest in Richarlison.
The same update also revealed that Saudi Arabian sides Al Ahli and Al Ittihad are also monitoring the 28-year-old’s situation.
