Court upholds demolition plan for Central Warehouse
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Albany County Supreme Court upheld the Advance Albany County Alliance's (AACA) company selection in the demolition of the Central Warehouse building, AACA CEO Kevin O’Connor announced. The decision was the final ruling in a lawsuit filed by Jackson Demolition against AACA back in March.
AACA revealed in February that Gramercy Group, Inc. of Wantagh and LiRo-Hill had been chosen to knock down the longtime dormant facility. In their lawsuit, Jackson Demolition claimed they had offered $14.1 million for the bid, professing that their offer was $500,000 less than the competing companies, aiming to have Gramercy Group and LiRo-Hill's bid contract voided.
"We are pleased with the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the Alliance's procurement
process and affirm the integrity of our approach in selecting the most qualified team for the
Central Warehouse project," O’Connor stated. "From day one, our goal has been to advance a transparent and strategic approach that prioritizes public safety, economic revitalization and community benefit. The ruling validates our commitment to transparency, fairness and responsible stewardship of public resources. We remain focused on moving this vital project forward and delivering on our mission to support economic revitalization in Albany County."
O’Connor said the court's ruling confirmed that AACA properly adhered to bid-awarding procedures, and that the contract with Gramercy Group, Inc. and LiRo-Hill will be moving forward.
