Atletico Madrid have a clear opinion on Daniel Levy amid Tottenham negotiations
Atletico Madrid are aware that they are dealing with a tough negotiator in Daniel Levy, but the La Liga side do not intend to give up on their pursuit of Cristian Romero.
Reports over recent weeks have indicated that Tottenham are prepared to make Romero their highest-paid player to get him to stay.
Thomas Frank sees Romero as a vital part of his project and values the Argentine’s leadership qualities, but the Dane and the Lilywhites have their work cut out in convincing the centre-back.
Some sources have said that Cristian Romero could agitate for a move to Atletico if the North London side and the Spanish club are not able to strike a deal.
Atletico Madrid expect Daniel Levy to play hardball
Monday’s print edition of the AS (as relayed by Sport Witness) has now claimed that Diego Simeone’s men are determined to add significant reinforcements to their squad this summer, with Romero remaining at the top of their wishlist.
Atletico have negotiated with Levy in the past and they are aware that he is not easy to deal with. The Colchoneros hierarchy ‘respect’ the Tottenham chairman and his negotiation skills, but they have no intention of giving up on the World Cup winner.
The two clubs continue to be locked in talks, with Atletico trying to convince Spurs to accept €55m (£47.4m) plus €15m (£13m) in bonuses for Romero.
However, so far, Levy and Tottenham are standing firm on their €70m (£60m) valuation of the centre-back.

Various outlets have reported this summer that Tottenham may enquire about Conor Gallagher’s availability.
Over recent days, it has emerged that the La Liga side are willing to listen to offers for the former Chelsea man, just a year on from his move from West London to the Spanish capital.
Some sources have even suggested that Tottenham could ask Atletico to include Gallagher in a deal for Romero.
