1. Victim identified in Great Sacandaga Lake drowning
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man who drowned attempting to reach another swimmer at the Great Sacandaga Lake Sunday. Deputies said Vickram Roopnarine, 24, of Schenectady was found Monday morning.
2. New Yorkers to get inflation checks in October
The state will mail inflation refund checks to over 8 million people starting in October. The one-time payments are supposed to blunt the effects of the affordability crisis by returning a portion of inflated sales taxes already paid by New Yorkers.
3. Multiple arrests in Schenectady due to fireworks
All fireworks are banned in the City of Schenectady. That didn’t stop 28 people who on the Fourth of July were arrested for code violations.
4. NYS Senator introduces new flare gun legislation | NEWS10 ABC
New York State Senator Pat Fahy is introducing two new bills after a young person allegedly fired flare gun Friday night, causing a home to burn down in the City of Albany.
5. State Police release bodycam footage of July 4th Madison Ave. fire
New York State Police released body camera footage of troopers responding to a shooting and active structure fire on Madison Avenue on the Fourth of July. The incidents reportedly occurred at about 10 p.m., just after a fireworks display at Empire State Plaza.
