BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- WIVB News 4 is proud to once again partner with Give 716, a local giving event that gives back to local communities. Here’s how you can get involved.
What is Give 716?
Give 716 is an online donation drive that helps support non-profit organizations in Western New York. It is organized by the Buffalo Bills and Sabres foundations.
Over $4.4 million has been raised in the last four years.
When is it? How do I donate?
You can make donations through the Give 716 website.
The donation drive opens at 7:16 p.m. July 15 and runs through 11:59 p.m. July 16 (also known as 716 day, the date that matches Buffalo’s area code).
Incentives and donation matching
There are numerous incentives to donate during Give 716 each year. Donors meeting the criteria can win signed Bills jerseys, Bills and Sabres tickets, baseball caps, t-shirts, and more. The family of Bills coach Sean McDermott and the Bills/Sabres Foundations are also sponsoring donation matching hours.
Where does the money go?
That’s up to you! More than 700 local charities are participating in Give 716.
When you visit the site, you’ll have the option to have your gift split equally among all the participating charities, or you can specifically pick and choose which organization(s) your money goes to.
You can also research different organizations by category, such as animal-related charities, human and civil rights organizations, or faith-based groups.
How much money has been donated?
In 2024, donations totaled over $1.1 million. You can see the latest donation numbers here.
How to sign up for Give 716
Applications have now closed. They were accepted on the Give 716 website through July 2. Eligible nonprofit organizations must be qualified as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) public charity and located within Erie, Niagara, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Wyoming, Genesee, Orleans or Allegany county.
