During the podcast appearance, Matt asked the former First Lady about her experience going to see the Tony-winning Broadway show. He asked, “What is Michelle Obama‘s experience at Oh, Mary!? Because we’d imagine everyone’s turning to you to see how you’re responding to this.”
According to Michelle, she tries to sneak in to shows after the lights have gone down to keep a low profile, so she didn’t think the other people in the audience realized she was there.
She went on to share that she went to the show on the recommendation of a friend and actually had no idea what it was about, but enjoyed it regardless. Michelle told the podcast hosts, “I mean, who thought of this? What’s going on inside that head? That thought of the retelling of history in this very interesting but powerful way. I loved it, loved it.”
