'Handing him losses': Jasmine Crockett mocks Trump for being so easily triggered
"The View" celebrated Juneteenth on Thursday with Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX). Among the things she discussed was how easy it is to get under President Donald Trump's skin.
Joy Behar noted that in the past few months, Trump has attacked Crockett as a "low I.Q. person" and "a lowlife."
"Do you take that as a sign that you're doing something right?" Behar asked.
"I hope he also called her a lawyer," Sunny Hostin quipped to audience applause. "That's another thing that she is."
"He's good at projecting," said Crockett.
She noted that she's nothing more than a sophomore in the House, but Behar cut in to tell her not to "minimize" herself. "You're a powerhouse," Behar said.
But Crockett maintained she found it odd that someone as powerful as the president of the United States was so easily triggered.
"Still, he's the president of the United States, right? It talked about his level of petty, number one, and it also kind of goes to the fact that he's not focused on the things he needs to focus on," said Crockett.
"Listen, you're the president, I'm over in the House and I'm trying to get these House members to do right by their constituents, which means going against you, but you're taking out your time when people are literally struggling," she continued. "You said on day one you were going to reduce the price of eggs. We ain't heard nothing about it. You said you're going to stop all the wars in the world. It seems like you're going the opposite direction. You know what I mean?"
She commented that the real issue is that Americans are "hurting," but Trump deployed a "random sidekick" in tech billionaire Elon Musk.
He "decided he was going to cut off the aid to everybody. Then you're losing in court every single day. Listen, call him the biggest loser because the courts -- the courts are handing him some losses. I'm just like, can you get yourself in order? Can you focus? But no," she said.
Another question from the panel of co-hosts came from Sara Haines, asking if she feels safe as an elected official since Trump has targeted her.
"No," she said quickly. "Not at all."
Only the top leadership in the House is allotted funds for security and protection, meaning Crockett and others must pay for their own. Those costs can add up.
