Weekend Watch: Peach Jam galore and "Bee-ing" the change
AUSTIN (KXAN) - The weekend is back, just as it is every week, bringing some great outdoor events, including a JAM-boree, Rock the Block, and some bee-saving information.
Weekend Forecast
Rain chances remain low for the weekend, with partly cloudy skies expected to dominate. Temperatures will remain in the mid to upper 90s for everyone with the possibility of a stray shower or two in the afternoons. It won't be anything you will need to cancel your plans for.
Stonewall Peach JAMboree
Who doesn't love jam, or even peach jam! Well, you are in luck as the Stonewall Peach JAMboree and Rodeo kicks off our weekend with a ton of peach-flavored items at your disposal. This is a three-day event starting Thursday, June 19, and running through Saturday, June 21. From peach cobbler to peach ice cream, to even just a fresh peach. There will be plenty to do and eat, including a parade which begins at Stonewall Elementary School, a rodeo, and a dance.
There will also be b-b-q and drinks to purchase as well. By the way, the event itself is free. The only tickets you need to purchase will be for the rodeo and concerts by Wade Bowen on Friday and Cody Canada and the Departed on Saturday. Be sure to visit their website for ticket information.
Rock the Block
Pflugerville is holding its Juneteenth Celebration Rock the Block event in downtown Pflugerville on Friday, June 20, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. The free event will have live music from The Peterson Brothers, along with food vendors and plenty of fun for the family. You are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and your pets. For more information, including their know-before-you-go guide, be sure to visit their website.
Bee the Change
It's time to save all of the bees! Taking place at the Menchaca Road Branch of the Austin Public Library in Austin, BEE the CHANGE is a one-hour event from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and brings you vital information on the role native bees play in Central Texas. You'll be able to learn how to provide the perfect habitat and nesting space for bees here, along with butterflies. Attendance is free and open to the public.
