Tottenham Join Chase for Damsgaard in Summer Transfer Scramble
Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a summer swoop for Brentford midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard, according to Caught Offside, as the North London club look to inject creativity and flair into their midfield ranks.
The 24-year-old Dane, who arrived at Brentford from Sampdoria in 2022, endured a slow start to life in the Premier League but impressed last season. In 43 appearances across all competitions, Damsgaard registered three goals and 10 assists, proving he’s rediscovering the form that turned heads at Euro 2020.
Spurs, reportedly close to appointing Brentford boss Thomas Frank as their new manager, have been tracking Damsgaard’s situation closely. With five years still left on his contract, Brentford won’t sell cheap — demanding at least £34 million to let their creative gem go.
But Tottenham aren’t alone in their pursuit. West Ham, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Inter Milan, and Napoli are all monitoring the playmaker, making this a potentially heated transfer battle. West Ham, under new manager Graham Potter, are also seeking a technically gifted midfielder to spark their rebuild.
Damsgaard, primarily a No.10, is also adept in a deeper role or on the left, making him an ideal versatile asset. With James Maddison’s injury issues and Kulusevski more suited to the wing, Spurs could see Damsgaard as a perfect fit to bolster their midfield depth.
A summer tug-of-war is brewing — and Damsgaard is right at the heart of it.
