"Oklahoma!" coming to Albany's Park Playhouse
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Playhouse Stage Company will be presenting the musical "Oklahoma!" this summer. The performances are slated for July 1 through July 26 at Park Playhouse in Albany's Washington Park.
The iconic Rodgers and Hammerstein show tells the tale of farm girl Laurey Williams and her courting of two suitors in the Oklahoma Territory in 1906, featuring themes of romance and quintessential Americana as well as bluegrass-inspired orchestrations. The production will celebrate Park Playhouse's 37th year in operation, and will be the first time in nearly 25 years the venue has put on the classic musical.
Performances will run Tuesdays through Sundays and will kick off at 7:30 p.m. The show has a two-hour run time with a 15 minute intermission.
Lawn seating at Park Playhouse is free, with first-come, first-serve availability. You can buy Oklahoma! reserved seating tickets on the Playhouse Stage Company's website.
The production will also host an encore weekend starting July 31 through August 2 at the Guilderland Performing Arts Center in Tawasentha Park. The encore shows will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
