Cyclists during Stage 1 of the 2025 Giro d'Italia.

The first of the trio of 2025 Grand Tour races is heating up. Below, we've put together everything you need to know about how to watch Giro d'Italia, including free global streaming options.

Giro d'Italia takes some of the best cyclists in the world on a difficult, 21-stage trek through Italy and surrounding areas. The race starts in Durrës, Albania, and tours through Italy for several weeks before wrapping up in Rome. First established in 1909, the race has seen quite an evolution over the years, but it has become one of the fundamental events of the Spring-Summer cycling season, a solid precursor to the Tour de France and Vuelta a España.

The field opened up this year with news that reigning champ Tadej Pogačar would sit out the race in preparation for the summer's Tour de France. Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel are also notably absent. Primož Roglič was a top contender heading into the race and, at the time of writing, sits in fifth place. Now over halfway through the competition, Isaac del Toro has raced to the front of the pack, currently donning the iconic maglia rosa and leading the field by 38 seconds. He's followed close behind by fellow UAE Team Emirates member Juan Ayuso. Antonio Tiberi and Simon Yates round out the race in third and fourth place.

There's just a little over one week left in the race, but with a less than two-minute difference between the top five riders, it's safe to say that it's still anyone's race (for context, Pogačar won the race by more than nine minutes last year). Below, you can find some of the top worldwide watch options.

How to watch Giro d'Italia from anywhere

Cycling fans who aren't in Australia or Italy at the moment can still keep up with their go-to streaming options from abroad with the aid of a VPN. Short for virtual private networks, VPNs are top-notch cybersecurity apps that enable people to alter their device's virtual location. They're extra popular tools among those hoping to access their usual websites and apps while traveling overseas or upgrade their internet privacy.

ExpressVPN is one of the best options on the market, thanks to its user-friendliness and security perks, which you can explore in our ExpressVPN review. Plus, the app comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Keep reading to learn how to use a VPN.
