Northville BOE discusses options after failed budget vote
NORTHVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Northville Central School District's Board of Education met Thursday night to discuss the recent failure to pass the 2025-2026 school budget. The proposed budget exceeds the state tax cap.
However, the board said there's very little they could cut from the budget to get to the cap.
"We would have to cut an additional $290,849. That's to get to the 2.9, which is cap for us, just below cap. We're looking at cutting, if we had to go to austerity, just about $500,000."
Should the budget vote fail two times, they would adopt a contingency budget. The board will meet again on Monday morning to vote and discuss the budget further.
