Man shot in car was allegedly lured by 2 women with dating app, 2 arrested
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two women were arrested after authorities said they tried to lure a man with a dating app before he was shot in his car in Corvallis this past weekend.
Julia Dell Yepez, 20, was arrested in Salem on Tuesday, the Benton County Sheriff's Office said. A second woman, 20-year-old Alexa Montano Corral, is also accused of being involved in the incident and was arrested on Thursday night, authorities said. Both women are accused of multiple charges in connection with the incident.
On May 17, around 5:30 a.m., a 911 caller reported that a man had been shot in his car near Highway 99W and Lakeside Drive in Corvallis. Two women were reportedly seen running away, heading south on Lakeside Drive.
As of Thursday, the man remains hospitalized, recovering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
"Investigators believe the suspects used the Chispa dating app to lure the victim into meeting with the intent of stealing from him," the Benton County Sheriff's Office said in a press release. "Yepez and Corral are also suspects in a nearby county involving similar criminal activity."
