Police accuse man
of molesting child
San Rafael police arrested an 18-year-old man who allegedly committed sexual offenses against a child.
Police opened an investigation in March after authorities received a report about a possible sexual assault against a minor, Lt. Scott Eberle said. Investigators identified the suspect as Jessy Shol Madrid and arrested him Thursday morning on Bahia Circle. Eberle said detectives searched Madrid’s phone and discovered images depicting suspected child sexual abuse.
Madrid was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of lewd offenses against a child, arranging to meet a minor for sexual offenses, assault with intent to rape and possessing obscene material of a child younger than 14. His bail amount was set at $100,000.

Contracts granted
for paving project
The town has awarded nearly $2 million in contracts for pavement work on Paradise Drive.
The project area is about 2,800 linear feet from Mar West Street to the town boundary near Agreste Way, according to a report by the Department of Public Works. One contract is for $1,472,837 plus a 10% contingency for road work by Argonaut Constructors Inc., which submitted the lowest of three bids. Another contract of $193,375 is for construction management services by Pavement Engineering Inc.
The Town Council approved the contracts at its meeting on Wednesday. The town expects the project to take 45 working days starting in mid-June, said David Eshoo, the public works director.
HOUSING
Key hearings ahead
on 2 developments
The Marin County Planning Commission has set public hearings next week on two major housing development proposals.
One involves a plan to subdivide a 61.33-acre parcel into 36 home lots at 1501 Lucas Valley Road in San Rafael. Fifteen of the homes would include optional junior accessory dwelling units.
The Marin County Community Development Agency approved a housing development permit this month, but the Planning Commission must decide whether to approve the tentative subdivision map. County planners recommend rejecting the map, citing concerns such as grading in the steep area and the narrowness of the streets.
The other hearing will involve the design review and a tree removal permit for a proposed 32-apartment building at 150 Shoreline Highway in Mill Valley. County planners recommend conditional approval.
The Planning Commission is scheduled to meet at 10 a.m. May 29 in suite 330 of the Marin County Civic Center in San Rafael.
