A HUGE supermarket chain is helping Brits celebrate the Spring Bank Holiday weekend with cheap drinks.

For a limited time only, Aldi has dropped the price of its Prosecco to just £4.99 a bottle.

Shoppers can purchase Aldi’s Italian Prosecco at a whopping discount[/caption]

Shoppers can purchase the discount retailer’s Italian Prosecco DOCG at a whopping 38 per cent discount from today.

But you’ll have to be quick as the offer is only available in stores until May 25.

The 75cl bottles are described as having “vibrant notes of crisp apple and pear, complemented by delicate floral aromas”.

It presents a great opportunity to host a Bank Holiday bash for an affordable price.

What’s more, the supermarket is extending its savings to its still wine range.

This includes their Animus Douro and their South African Sauvignon Blank with prices starting from just £3.99 a bottle.

The Douro red is described as offering “warm red fruit and spicy aromas”.

It delivers notes of plums and cedar, pairs with pizza, chicken, pasta and is available for just £4.99, a 25 per cent discount.

Whereas their South African Sauvignon Blanc sees a massive 33% discount at £3.99.

For that price, you can enjoy “citrus fruits, with zesty lime and lemon zest, followed by hints of freshly cut grass and green bell pepper”.

It’s “crisp and lively” on the palate with “bright, clean flavours”.

Both wines are also on offer from today until Sunday, May 25.

So, if you’re looking to host friends, enjoy a picnic or just treat yourself this weekend, the retailer’s discounts are a great option if you’re on a budget.

Aldi was crowned the cheapest supermarket to buy everyday essentials for the month of April, according to research by consumer group Which?.

For a basket of 79 of common household essentials, a saving of £48.24 was found to be possible for shoppers at Aldi as compared to Waitrose.

This comes as shoppers rush to Aldi to pick up a dupe of a Cadbury favourite.

Their new Honeycomb Clusters are a dupe of Cadbury’s popular Crunchie Clusters.

Fans were sent into a frenzy after a savvy shopper posted the find on the popular NewfoodsUK Facebook group.

You’ll need to rush to your nearest store to nab them though as the dupe isn’t available online.

Retailer Home Bargains also revealed a dupe of a popular Polish chocolate bar sold for 92 per cent cheaper than the original.

When's the best time to shop at Aldi?

WHEN it comes to shopping at Aldi, the best time to do so depends on what you want to buy. For reduced items – when shops open.

Red sticker items are rare at Aldi’s 830 UK stores, but the supermarket says that none of its food goes to waste so there are some to be found – if you’re quick.

A spokesman for the supermarket said: “All items are reduced to 50 per cent of the recommend sales price before stores open on their best before or use by dates.”

That means you have the best chance of finding reduced food items if you go into stores as soon as it opens.

Opening times vary by shop but a majority open from 7am or 8am. You can find your nearest store’s times by using the supermarket’s online shop finder tool.

For Specialbuys – Thursdays and Sundays

Specialbuys are Aldi’s weekly collection of items that it doesn’t normally sell, which can range from pizza ovens to power tools.

New stock comes into stores every Thursday and Sunday, so naturally, these are the best days to visit for the best one-off special deals.

For an even better chance of bagging the best items, head there for your local store’s opening time.

Remember: once they’re gone, they’re gone, so if there’s something you really want, visit as early as possible.
