VICE PRESIDENT Dr Constantino Chiwenga will join hundreds of world leaders here for the inaugural mass of Pope Leo XIV.
Pope XIV assumes leadership of the Catholic Church following the death of Pope Francis.
He has already made a commitment to promote interfaith dialogue and social justice.
As the church charts a new path, VP Chiwenga, who is representing President Mnangagwa, said Zimbabwe fully appreciates everything the church has done for the country and today stands shoulder to shoulder with the Vatican.
The Government and people of Zimbabwe, he said, wish the church and Pope God’s blessings and guidance as he leads the body of Christ.
The VP is accompanied by his wife Colonel Miniyothabo Chiwenga and Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Professor Amon Murwira, among other senior Government officials.
The Zimbabwean delegation was welcomed by the country’s representative in Italy, Ambassador Mietani Chauke.
