Sports briefs: San Domenico’s Williams wins four league titles
San Domenico junior Omar Williams captured gold in both the 110 and 300 hurdles during Saturday’s Bay Area Conference Championship meet at Chabot College.
Williams ran a personal-best 40.74 seconds to take first place in the BAC and BCL West in the 300 hurdles. The Panthers’ standout athlete won the overall title in the 110 hurdles (16.60).
Williams and basketball running mate Kris Jakstas finished 1-2 overall, respectively, in the high jump. Williams cleared the bar at 5 feet, 10 inches, while Jakstas leapt 5’8”. Williams was first in the BCL West, second overall in the long jump with a PR of 21’4”.
San Domenico senior Devin Price placed second in the BCL West, third overall in the BAC in the 1,600 meter with a personal record of 4 minutes, 27.24 seconds on Saturday at Chabot College. Price also took fourth in the BCL West , fifth overall in the 3,200 (9:56.64).
San Domenico’s foursome of Nam Dang, Orlando Lavarreda, Max Lanzendorf and Jakstas took third overall in the 4×800 relay. San Domenico was fourth in the BCL West in the 4×400 relay. Marin Academy’s relay teams took fifth in the BCL West in the 4×800, and seventh in both the BCL West in the 4×100 and 4×400 races.
Girls track and field
Marin Academy senior Esme Morrison and junior Grace Bramble both earned silver medals in their field events during Saturday’s Bay Area Conference Championship meet at Chabot College.
Morrison cleared the bar for a personal-best 4 feet, 10 inches in the high jump to place second overall.
San Domenico sophomore Ripley Toquinto Tyson placed seventh in the BCL West, ninth overall in the high jump (4’6”), and sixth in the BCL West, eighth overall in the long jump with a PR of 14 feet, 11 inches. Bramble was seventh in the BCL West, ninth overall at 14’8.50”, followed by the San Domenico trio of Yeva Korsak-Suleymanova, Lily Lesser and Audrey High, who rounded out the top 10 in the BCL West.
Bramble’s PR of 33 feet was good enough for second place overall in the triple jump. The Panthers’ High was eighth in the BCL West with a PR of 28’6”.
Wildcats senior Jasmine Wood threw a personal-best 77 feet, 9 inches in the discus, good enough for fourth in the BCL West, seventh overall.
Marin Academy freshman Luna Dana placed fifth in the BCL West, sixth overall in the Bay Area Conference in the 100 meter race (13.40).
