And particularly if your purse is feeling tighter than ever before and you haven’t got loads of cash to splash on pricey cleaning supplies, you won’t need to worry.

Luckily for you, there’s a super simple solution gardening gurus are raving about to banish moss.

It’ll cost you just 65p thanks to a cheap Asda buy – yes, you heard that correctly – and you may already have the secret in your kitchen cupboard.

It comes after one social media user took to Reddit, desperate for tips and tricks on how to banish moss.

Posting on the r/landscaping thread, the anonymous user who posts under the username @lylestyle23 shared snaps of his grandmother’s driveway, which was covered in the green stuff.

Alongside a picture showing off the masses of moss, the user titled his post “Best way to remove this moss.”

The man then continued: “It’s everywhere – the path goes another 50 feet.

“Trying to help my grandma.”

Luckily for this man and his elderly relative, numerous gardening enthusiasts raced to the comments, keen to reveal their helpful advice on how to say goodbye to moss, without too much faff involved.

One person said: “Power wash it.”

Another advised: “Get a pump sprayer, fill it with vinegar and some salt, and spray it down. The moss will die in a couple days and then it can be easily scraped out with an old screwdriver or small pickaxe. Replace voids with sand.”

While a third recommended: “I’d keep the moss but pouring boiling hot water will be enough to kill it.”

Fiona advised: “Simply sprinkle some over the affected area and leave it overnight.

“Then, the next day, all you need to do is sweep away the remnants.”

You can try this trick at any time, but it’s worth waiting for a time when the sun is shining, as Fiona added: “Baking soda works best on dry days.”

Top 5 Spring Gardening Jobs

Nick Grey, Gtech Inventor and CEO shared the tasks to crack on with as Spring arrives.

1. Clean your garden

Make sure to clear away all leaves, soil and plant debris from your patios and flower beds; this creates a healthier environment for new growth, especially as we get into the summer months. Gtech’s Garden Safety Kit includes durable gardening gloves and safety glasses; perfect for comfortability whilst tackling those outdoor tasks.

2. Weeding

Early Spring is the best time to tackle weeds; if you can introduce some regular weeding into your routine, you can guarantee a tidy garden all year round.

3. Hedge maintenance

Spring is the ideal time to tidy up overgrown hedges and shrubs, as regular trimming ensures healthy growth and reduces pest issues. Using a tool like the Gtech Lightweight Hedge Trimmer can help to keep your greenery looking sharp and neat.

4. Composting

Starting a compost heap this spring is a pro-active, cost-effective way to harness nutritious soil for your plants and recycle organic waste that will benefit the overall health of your greenery and foliage.

5. Look after your lawn

Lawn care is hugely important in assuring your garden stays looking beautiful. Make sure to rake away any excess leaves and trim your grass routinely.

This cupboard staple is a good weapon against moss because it’s a mild alkali.

Moss thrives in slightly acidic conditions and the baking soda raises the pH level, creating an environment in which moss can’t grow.

Fiona beamed: “It’s pretty easy to apply. And as this doesn’t involve you using chemicals, this is an eco-friendly way to eradicate moss.”

Thrilled with the affordable hack, the green-fingered expert shared: “This non-toxic home-made option will save you the expense of shop-bought products.”
